Belly Dance Hipwork Practice choreography with Neon
Can you entertain an audience standing on just one floor tile? There is a famous saying in traditional belly dance: a truly skilled dancer can captivate a room without ever leaving their spot. In this focused, fun, and pressure-free class, master instructor Neon strips away the complex floor patterns, turns, and full-body articulations of modern stage choreography to focus purely on the original, traditional art form: masterful hipwork.
What is a "Practice Choreography"? Unlike a stage choreography designed for performance variety, a practice choreography is a continuous string of combinations designed to build your stamina, isolation, and muscle memory. In this class, you will link together a variety of percussive and fluid hipwork combinations, adding just a couple of steps here and there to keep the flow going.
No Memorization Required! This class is designed for you to sweat, drill, and have fun without the stress of remembering 10 minutes of complex steps. Neon will break down each combination, and then you will practice as you go. During the final music run-through, she provides continuous voice cues and prompts, so all you have to do is listen, follow along, and let your hips do the work.
Class Structure:
Targeted Warmup: (Neon recommends pairing this with her Nonstop Hipwork Practice classes for percussive or fluid warmups).
Step-by-Step Breakdown: Clear, methodical instruction on a continuous string of hipwork combinations.
Guided Music Practice: A full run-through with continuous voice cues and prompts so you can just follow along and flow.
Perfect For: Dancers who want to improve their hipwork stamina, refine their isolations, and experience the traditional, grounded roots of belly dance without the pressure of memorizing a complex routine.
