Today we'll work with gliding and swirling footwork, and the type of fluid unhurried movement that we often associate with rumba-type rhythm in bellydance music. You often see this movement in a lyrical entrance pieces, or in dancing with the veil, American Cabaret style. When you learn veil dancing, most of the time you learn a veil move or trick and then layer it on some footwork in a choreography. So you end up remembering only veil moves and supporting them with simple footwork that is not sophisticated enough to stand on its own. In this class we'll try to make this swirling, gliding footwork interesting enough that it looks like full-fledged dancing without the veil. Then we'll add the veil.
